Happy Cristal – Family reunion time
The Christmas season is the perfect moment for getting together with family or friends around the Christmas tree or festive table. For this year’s edition of Happy Cristal, come and join the Lalique Museum family through December. Discover our giant Advent calendar, our Christmas tree and other surprises.
It’s also the ideal moment to note the major dates for the year ahead, so don’t forget your next year’s diary! Whether you prefer your wall calendar at home or the electronic version in your pocket on your telephone, it’s your essential ally! Month by month, make sure you note all the important dates that will make up your year.
Page by page, the spectacular calendar on show during Happy Cristal gives a glimpse of events that bring people together. Composed of photographs representing these events – a birthday, a visit to an aquarium, an outing with friends -, the decor is made completely of paper, with dazzling Lalique crystal pieces inserted in strategic places, bringing the stories to life. And on Saturday afternoons, the exhibition will host readings of fairy tales, ideal entertainment for all ages.
It’s Christmas time!
What would Christmas be without a Christmas tree and an Advent calendar? These Christmas symbols are particularly vibrant in Alsace, and the Lalique Museum proposes a slightly different version to show visitors to the Happy Cristal exhibition. You’ll see the King of the Forest, for example, poised ready to protect the decorations from the mice that, once upon a time, would nibble at the apples and springerle biscuits. But instead of edible goodies, the exhibition features paper and crystal versions. As for the Advent calendar, the first visitor of the day has the honour of opening the window, but instead of chocolate he’ll discover a piece of crystal. He won’t be able to take it home (unfortunately!) but he’ll get a little gift as a souvenir!
Admission to the Happy Cristal exhibition is free – admission charges remain valid for the permanent collections.
From 29 November to 7 January the museum is open every day from 10am to 6pm but will close at 4pm on 24 and 31 December.
The museum will be closed on 25 December and 1 January.
