Pressed glass with patina, lost wax technique
Private collection
René Lalique used the lost wax technique for this vase, featuring the heads of three fishes that come together to form a tripod.
The neck of the vase bears the following inscription: « To President Dal Piaz, a lover of pressed glass – in memory of my visit on 6th August 1921 – R. Lalique. Unique piece »
John Dal Piaz, president of the Compagnie générale transatlantique, had commissioned René Lalique to do the interior decoration of the Paris ocean liner, which completed its maiden crossing from Le Havre to New York in 1921.
