Created in 1932

This Lys (lily) panel was designed by René Lalique for St Matthew’s, a small church in Saint Helier on the island of Jersey. The church was built in1840 and restored by Lady Trent as a tribute to her husband, Jesse Boot, founder of the British chain of chemists, Boots, who loved Saint Matthews. René Lalique chose the lily motif for the choir and angels for the Lady Chapel, following his use of lilies in Douvres-la-Délivrande and angels in the church of Saint Nicaise in Reims.
